Seas parting, men who walk on water, and angels who bring messages to men in caves are stories that belong in the weekly world news. However a vast number of people believe in these impossible feats as fact. Is it because all of these events happened in antiquity or a golden era?

The ancient world is full of magic. The glory that was Rome, the engineering feats of the Greeks, and exactly how did those Egyptians build those pyramids with no machinery. The Human Race did some amazing things for over 3000 years and then crashed with the fall of Rome. The only social left overs are the religions and for almost a thousand years mankind worked to drag itself out of the dark ages?

Does the fact that Judaism and Christianity were founded during these times and Islam during Arabia's greatest period lay more credence to these tall tales? Does this era of human acheivement unmatched until the end of the 19th century make divine scripture, lion's dens, and resurrection more believable?

What other documents Daniel? Why do these miracles no longer happen?

Yes it does. There have been incredible feats completed by man, (with help?) that are evident today. The White Castle in Texas, the Great Pyramid, Atlantis... these things are not explained. I can believe in prophets who spoke with God, because there are too many texts to back up these events, not just the Bible.

Perhaps it would help you if you understood that the Judeo-Hebraic Messianic Faiths of Judaism, Christianity and Islam are all very "young" Religions that were very localized.

Judaism is only 6,000 years old! Christianity is just 2,006 years old and Islam is just 1,400 years old.

All their Testaments are localized events.

The Great Flood was probably an event caused by the melting of the ice caps when the Earths axis shifted which caused the land in that region to be submerged. All the Wars and Battles were localized and the greatest reach there was up to Egypt and the forests of bordering Africa.

This is why you'll find references to the animals that are so very local there, in the story of Noah and the Ark. They didn't even know about the rest of the World.

Jesus Christ was a rebel who challenged the veracity of the Old Testament and even opted to die for his beliefs!

Islam is a totally different ball game, because Mohammad was intent on creating a new Faith which would give him absolute Power. The less said about this Cult, the better.

However, Jesus Christs Resurrection has many eye-witnesses, so denying that is difficult as are most of His Miracles.

The story of Daniel and the Lion is also something that rings true.

The New Testament shows a lot more reality than the Old Testament, because it does not presume to be the Word of God as the Old Testament and Islam claim to be.

Mohammad claimed that the Archangel Gabriel came to him and "revealed" the Koran. If you study his life and his teachings, you can see that a lot of it is pure BS.

I, personally, think that Christianity will last long, because of the Charisma of Jesus Christs teachings and the fact that it's an evolving and adapting Faith.

Islam, however, is rigid and unchanging and may have problems holding out.

Judaism is already on it's last legs.

I read your theory but did not understand what you want to ask or know?

Do you mean what you have written in the light of that
the following is a result of that theory? If so then answer is NO.

"Does the fact that Judaism and Christianity were founded during these times and Islam during Arabia's greatest period lay more credence to these tall tales? Does this era of human achievement unmatched until The end of the 19th century make divine scripture, lion's dens, and resurrection more believable"?

I will appreciate if you could send what you really want to say by mail nihon94@yahoo.com. I am interested because there are very few who bother about all this. I liked your thinking. Good study.

There are modern day explorers who say there are people today who
walk on water. Float to mountain tops on boulders. Travel physically
a great distance through mental/spiritual power, and even take their
bodies into the spirit world when they leave, and can come back and
reassemble it. That is where the word avatar comes from.
I talked to two guys who delievered some granite slabs to a man. He told them to take a break and he would unload them. They laughed. But peeked while they drank their coffee. And they both swore to me they saw the guy put
his hands on the stone, and start humming, and he raised them offf the truck
by himself.
That's how the pyramids were made. Recently, during excavations, where
they expected to see camps for thousnads of slaves by the pyramids. They
only found a small lodging for about 100 Egyptian priests!

It's about man putting two and two together. Sometime devine intervention may play a part.

Television could have been a reality in 3 BC. We had all of the basic technology, but we just didn't know enough about using it.

The Chinese knew about loadstones in 1000 BC but it took them until 1000 AD to put this into work and make a navigation compass.

That's 2000 years of playing with magnets and not figuring out a use for them.

Edison, in his quest to make an ideal incandescent light bulb, once invented a bulb with strange properties, but it didn't glow enough so he disgarded it.

I think it was Tesla that came to Edison to get rights to some technology and Edison agreed to sell him a variety of patents for items that Edison no longer had use for. That bulb was one of them.

The man buying the patents was well versed in theories and laws, inlcuding Ohms law, which Edison didn't know at all. When this person turned on that bulb and investigated it, he realized he had a gold mine.

Edison sold him a whole bunch of patents outright, including one for the Diode tube, which made Radio and later Television possible.

Everyone who wanted to make a very good Radio, amplified Phoograph (which Edison also invented) and TV set had to see this person to buy the Diode technology he owned the rights to for a period of 20 odd years. It made him a fortune and Edison took a loss. From that ONE patent he made back more than all the money spent buying all the "dead" Edison patents.

It was said Jesus restored life to the dead with a touch. Today we have CPR which can restore life to certain dead bodies if you know how to touch them just right.

It's about men of vision and some of these visioins are found in anceint scriptures.

Yes. Religion was a socially uniting force, especially with it's codified morality. God was a more powerful and intelligent 'judge' and his Hell and much worse 'punishment' than any human legal system or jail, and they served as a good method to ensure proper behavior. Having one true book made it accessible to people of all intelligence and education, and giving hope to the peasants in a feudal society secured the social status, and so was a form of social control.

Nowadays, it's simple to believe in a wonderful story when it promises so much (eternal life), especially if you are surrounded by other people who believe (parents, friends, community such as church), and even more if you are told to believe before you have any reason not to believe. Religion is an emotional feeling of togetherness for most people today, but it is also a form of mass ignorance.

Any story that involves magick catches the attention of men. It just so happened that many men saw these feats as they were presented and unlike many magick shows there were no props around like a giant fan to separate the waters of the dead sea. Now you can believe what you wish to believe but these stories have been documented in more than just the bible and the fact that there is more than one documentation proves that the event really did happen.

Great question! I believe that those were golden eras because man looked to God for the answers instead of just relying on their own devices. When the Romans started worshiping Caesar-bam it crashed..same with Egyptians and Pharaoh worship and Jewish people when they turned from God- see ANYWHERE in the Old Testament. I believe that when man looked to God for answers first-and themselves later-the divine was allowed to happen. Whether it was God intervening-or as much as people would hate to admit-Satan helping. Great question though!

Interesting point on the plausibility of something happening over time. Reminded me of the Evolution Theory.
