Well, this really depends on how much money you are looking to spend. If you looking for a great point and shoot camera around $200, then a A540 would be perfect. I have done much research on this camera and it has great reviews. Canon p&s are rated number one in consumer reports. Whatever you do, don't buy a Kodak of a Fuji camera. By boyfreind works for Kadak's digital camera tech support and tells me all the problems with their cameras. We both bought Kodak C series cameras before he started working for Kodak and both of ours broke within months. And they were different problems too.
Here is a link to Canons web site:

Another good brand is Olympus. I am going to buy the Canon A540 today from Circuit City. If there is not a Circuit City by you, you can buy it from their website ar www.circuitcity.com. This week the camera is on sale for 199.99 and comes with a free 1GB memory card.
Hope this helps!

Which is "The Best" camera is impossible to say without knowing your circumstances and needs. The "best" at everything will cost you several thousand dollars/euros at least. And without knowing your budget, whether you will shoot pictures professionally or just take family snapshots, it's impossible to make a recommendation.
You need to decide how much you want to spend, then decide what you want to do with the camera, then learn which features you want or need for that, and finally buy a photography magazine. There are hundreds of digital cameras out there. All you need to do is invest some time and a little money to get educated.

It really depends on what you want, but one company that is a true standout in digital cameras is Canon. They jumped on the digital camera bandwagon before any of the other major camera companies did, and as a result their cameras are usually more versatile and user-friendly than other brands. I recently bought a Canon PowerShot A540 camera (which is very good for your basic point-and-shoot camera) for $179.99 at Amazon.com.

Please post a new question. Tell us how much you want to spend, what you plan to use the camera for most of the time, and what your prior experience is with photography. With this information, we will be much more helpful to you.

What is your BUDGET?
Do you want be an amateur, a prosumer, or a professional?
Do you want to do post-photo editing on your computer?
