IKEA furniture is really small and apartment sized - they also have all these neat storage solution such as a coffee table that you can store stuff in, under the bed storage, bookcases, etc. Also, if you don't feel like spending 4 hours browsing through the store or on-line try craig'slist. The "free" section is always full of fun stuff.

If you budget isn't too small - Target and Kohl's also have some really beautiful items that would be great for accents (vases, pillows, towels) that don't look cheap.

Between IKEA, Target, KOHL's, and JCPenny's-your apartment will be beautiful and stylish in a day.

Good luck!

the store isnt important. what you gotta concentrate on is finding stuff that is compact, multi-functionable, and offers lots of storage. those big ottomans with storage are good.(they can be used as seating, coffee table, and storage trunk) wall units with lots of shelves and cupboards. get a small round dining table instead of square. those roll-out units that you slide under your bed are a good storage idea. i think Ikea is really over-rated. look around everywhere, it doesnt matter where you buy it, as long as it works in your place. you can get great finds at flea markets

Try the classifieds, lots of people sell good stuff cheap. Or Rooms-to-go is a good store with flexible payment plans.
