I have tried razor knives, wire cutters, scissors (ouch!), kitchen knives, hacksaws and my hunting knife. If the people designing the packaging also had to open it, we may see something easier to open. Better yet why haven't I seen a tool introduced that is up to the task?

I always use scissors. Just cut an opening big enough to get your finger in there to separate from the rest of the package. Haven't cut myself yet (45 years).

I just use the knife blade on my leatherman and pray to God that I don't cut my fingers. there's got to be an easier way to open those packages but I haven't found them yet.

Yes! It is recently advertised on TV, a plastic device that hides a razor blade. I'll see if I can find the name.
