I don't know if I would call this clever - but it is a good twist on an oldie but goodie - Have a FREE carwash!
How does this work you ask - A FREE car wash?! This lady is nuts!
glad you asked....
First off set a limit to the # of how many cars you will wash for FREE - we'll say 100, for the sake of easy math!
Second - get pledges - friends, family, business owners - ask them to pledge to donating $1 per car washed, or 25 cents per car washed, 5 cents per car - it doesn't matter - it all adds up. - Sending out a well done letter to businesses, with a pledge form that they can send back is a VERY good idea. Make sure that the sponsor are aware that you will not wash more than the 100 cars, that way they know the maximun that they would be put out of pocket as they consider their pledge amount.
Third - After all of your pledges/sponsors are in place. Have a FREE car wash - do not wash more than 100 cars - or if you wash a 150, (the tips can be good for a free service!) don't charge for the other 50 cars - keep your word to your pledges! More than likely, some of your FREE customers will donate to - especially if you have something like a simple 1/2 page flyer that explains what your raising money for that they can read why you are washing their car.
Fourth - when all the work is done, collect your money from your pledges.
This Works! ~ provided you have a bunch a people helping you with your charity (it would stink to wash 100 cars by yourself!)Don't forget to have a shop vac on hand to vacuum out the inside of the cars to (might need an extension cord and electricity - so plan ahead when thinking about location location location) more likely to get tips for that one I think...
Think of all the little kids, who ask you to pledge a nickel a jump - when they do Jump Rope for Heart at school - do they still do that, or am I just showing my age here? Schools have people pledge all the time for different fundraisers, and it works like a charm. - of course they have these adorable little kids at your door to......
Personal opinion - don't have the chicks in their swimsuits or white t-shirts doing the car wash - that just attracts men - have everyone dressed modestly, families are more likely to stop, and will probably donate more to a worthy cause... then again - the right business man comes along, a chick in a wet t-shirt might be just what you need, consider your market area when considering location location location - plus you will be representing the charity that you are trying to raise money for!
you just have to think BIG - obviously more pledges equals more money....anyway you get the idea.... I hope...

These are all good ways ,my little town has raised alot of money in the last few years , for clock tower, new playground , shop with a cop ,Christmas party for under privileged and they collected some in these ways the local churches contributed a lot , call them and explain your good cause and they may host a fundraiser for you ,local bars and restaurants contribute or have a special night where a percentage goes to your cause ,alot of local business's will donate goods and service coupons ,free hair cut or a meal ,do you have a community youth group ,we do my kids belong ,they make ornament ,candles knock on doors spread flyer's collect a lot of money for the Christmas party. Well if you don't the local school student council or church youth groups might help with some flyer's and fund raising .Our kids also do bagging for dollar at the local grocery to collect money.
Our City allows with a permit ,a traffic stop at each end of town ,not to actually stop traffic but to stand in the middle of the intersection with a reflective vest and a bucket and sign explaining your cause .everyone throws in there change .Ask your mayor for a donation along with city council.hope that helps.

You may collect all items in your house that are outdated or unwanted by your household and sell. You may also sell lemonade and homemade foods. Letting the people know that you are doing it for charity. Also pray to God almighty for wisdom and have faith in him.
