Hawk's Crest by Stag's Leap (Napa Valley) makes a great Cabernet Sauvignon for only around $15 that would be nice paired with red meat. Gloria Ferrer(Carneros Region) makes some nice sparkling wine in your price range for that special toast. Domain Alfred (Edna Valley near San Luis Obispo) has a delightful Chardonnay for around $22. They also have wonderful Pinot Noir that you might be able to get for $30.

To be honest, my favorite is a sparkling wine from Napa Valley. Mumms. Excellent bubbly, festive, goes with most foods, and runs about $19-$20 a bottle.

It really depends on what you are having for dinner. Our secret sweet spot are wines that are $10-15. There are plenty to choose from and excellent value.

So here are a couple of our favorite suggestions:

Clos du Val Adridane (white)
Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon
Toad Hollow Risque

It's not easy to come by, but my favorite is Zaca Mesa Rousanne (not Napa Valley; Santa Ynez Valley). They don't make it every year -- that's why it's hard to come by -- but it goes with just about anything.

I find almost all California wines absolutely divine. Ironstone winery has both good red and whites and is very affordable. Lava Cap is also very good. VSatui also is very nice. Mondavi is yummy...Happy Holidays!

something as long as its no longer squid or hotdogs/hams/sausages. My abdomen hurts whilst eating them lol. yet my fav would be purple meat with oyster sauce and broccoli. And a tumbler of milk xD i'm a milkaholic :) darkish chocolate for dessert is heaven.

You absolutely can not go wrong with J Lohr Seven Oaks Cabernet. http://www.jlohr.com/wines_estates_01_cab.html

We try about 5 new bottles a month of various varieties (always reds) at our house and this is the only one we buy consistently.

Enjoy!
