I have started to potty train my son today, he shows all signs of being ready. He has already gone 2 times this morning in the potty, but my question is how ioften do I take him to try to get him to go. Both of the times he has gone today he has started to go in his underwear and then 'finished' in the toilet. SO, how often do I take him so we can not have a accident.

I have boys as well. How old is your son? My son was almost 3 before he was really ready for potty-training, and it was fairly easy. I started off by taking him to the toliet every 30 mins, or asking him every 30 minutes. However, you will have accidents! Lots of them!

The first three days I did the every 20 minute thing. Then I changed it to every 40 minutes and so on. Then I just started bringing her in when I had to go. Of course that would be a little harder for you since you have a son. On Charmins website they have a potty training kit you can send for its free and its really nice, it includes stickers and everything and a chart you can mark to show his progress. Good luck to you and your son.

not really sure, but i did it with my lil girl, and i would take her everytime that i went to the bath room and if i would think about it, i would ask her to try bout every 10 to 20 minutes just to be sure of no accidents although there will be some of those in potty training. im no expert and lots of children are different and train at different paces, so just watch for signs that ur son gives to you when he does go and make sure he gets to a polly fast. try not giving him a whole lot to drink about 2 hours before bed and always make sure he atleast tries to go potty before he gets into bed. good luck and best wishes to ya.

When i potty trained my daughter, i would time her. I gave her a cup of juice to drink, wait 15 min. and then take her to the bathroom. I would TELL her," Ok honey it is time to go potty". Do not give him an opotion. If he truly does not have to go, then take him every five min. after.
Trust me, if you gave him a cup of juice, he will have to go soon enough.
You do this all day. He will get into the habit of going to the bathroom, because he knows the causes and effects. If you drink, you shall potty!
My daughter was fully potty trained in 3 days!

I took my daughter every half-hour. Even if she didn't have to go, I would let her sit there for awhile. And if you are going out in public make sure he goes right before you leave. Carry around some disinfecting wipes so you can take him potty while he is out and about too. Good luck!
