In the Qur'an Allah (SWT) has ordered us to cover ourselves and our beauty and to lower our gaze except from our fathers, grandfathers, husbands, brothers, etc.
Why are Muslims after practicing Muslimahs who are covering themselves to obey their Lord?
Why do people have a problem with a Niqab when women are allowed to be naked to satisfy men?
Is covering starting to become illegal?
Why can't Muslimahs devote themselves to their Lord?
I've only seen weak excuses:
* Problem with communication (that is not a problem at all! putting a cloth in front of your face does not limit the volume of your voice!)
* Shoplifting!!??? (i've never heard of such! do people who are uncovered not shoplifit? that's the world's every day problem!)
* stands out as different (there are people who do the weirdest things and wear the weirdest dresses and they are accepted---why can't a muslimah be accepted for doing something for her Lord?)
What do you have to say?

Fire, Muslim women are not oppressed that's why they do not feel that way!

Admiralbo..., security is not a rroblem. I have no problem with a female police officer or a security guard who wants to check my identification! And there's a difference between a male and female figure. It's not hard to distinguish that!

Anya, how can you say that niqab is not required when Allah (SWT) has asked us to cover our beauty and to lower our gazes? How else do you translate that?
Besides our body, isn't beauty also part of our face? And our Prophet's wives and daughters also covered themselves and they are our role models!

I agree. I'm not a Muslim, but I totally support the right of Muslims to dress according to their faith.

The problem with communication is not limited to the voice. Most of our communication comes from facial expression and body language. This is severely limited when a person is hiding behind a mask or a veil. If you can't see someone's face, how can you know what they're REALLY saying?

As for shoplifting, yes all sorts shoplift. But those who are wearing baggy things like snowcoats and the niqab (as you call it) are usually watched more closely because they can hide more, and it's not easy to detect. That's why people are uncomfortable when such people come into the store.

For me the problem is with this : "ordered us to cover ourselves and our beauty and to lower our gaze except from our fathers, grandfathers, husbands, brothers, etc." You're not allowed to meet the gaze of men? Animals do this too. It's a sign of dominance and submission. Lesser animals are not allowed to meet the gaze of the alphas. I have a real problem with women of any creed or culture subjugating themselves in that way. It's sexist and it's backward and it's offensive to me that any intelligent person (male or female) could condone it.

Why exactly is it that you must hide your beauty? Men don't have to hide THEMselves. Can men not be trusted to act in a civilized manner around women? Or are they beasts? If they are beasts, why do you tolerate them and act subservient at all? If they're the ones who can't control themselves, why aren't THEY dealt with. Male chastity belts or something equally ridiculous?

Anyway, none of these things have anything to do with your religion. They're cultural and practical reasons. And while others should respect your religion (even if they don't agree with it) you should respect their culture.

I have a bit of a problem with people covering their faces. If I can't identify someone at all, I feel a little uneasy. It has nothing to do with religion or women's rights. I live in NYC where I believe there is some sort of law involving things like ski masks, etc. for 'safety' reasons. What's to stop a rapist from covering his face and pretending to be a Muslim woman. He could walk around all day stalking women and no one could ever identify him. You might think that's far fetched but I am a little afraid of people taking advantage of it.

*It's not like I can ask all veiled woman to lift up their veil for a second so that I can make sure they aren't some guy who's the local rapist.

In this day and age, governments are right to require citizens to be able to be clearly identified. If the police are looking for someone, they have the right to determine whether or not you are the individual being sought.

The right to security that the rest of us have is greater than your right to follow a practice every Islamic scholar outside of Saudi Arabia considers to be optional. Your optional religious practices are less important than my right to safety and security.

I have no problem with hijab, a legitimately Islamic practice which is a form of modesty which does not interfere with someone's identification. However, someone in full face cover might as well be a male bank robber, for all anyone can tell.

When people move to another land, another culture, no one is asking them to give up their old culture. It is just that everyone has to bend a little to co-exist.

The state of the world is now that we need to know what is going on-not hidden by people.

The niqab is not required by the Qur'an. It is only says that a woman should dress modestly and wear the hijab-a head covering. The complete covering is a custom, not a requirement.

As I said, we must all give a little.

this is merely positively disgusting. It made me cry on account that the that's in order that improper. some factors of Pakistan as a state.... isn't the stunning area to look at as an Islamic occasion on account that the some persons replace into mixing custom and positioned out of your suggestions Islamic standards on account that the the're uneducated. The enjoyed Prophet PBUH based women's rights! Pre-Islamic Arabia used to bury women alive and Islam placed a end to it! this is FORBIDDEN and that i desire via potential of Allah that he destroys those persons in Hellfire and in the grave. those persons committed 2 suitable sins. They comitted homicide and refused to enable the female the ideal to choose upon their spouses that's a necessary ideal for Muslim women. It merely breaks my center mutually as I see such backward concerns even it wasn't in a meant Islamic group no one advantages this. this is not Islam its custom.

“I desire the women to adorn themselves in well-arranged dress.” When this is done with “modesty and soundness of mind,” it can be a reflection of a woman’s reverence for God. (1 Timothy 2:9, 10) As Christian women exhibit such modest beauty, it can reflect well on the teachings of God and the congregation.

Dressing doesnt matter the most, its their attitude. I know muslims who have had abortion....i mean is killing a fetus better than dressing how you should?

The veil has been illegal in Turkey since 1920.

The real question is "Are you ready?"
