Wharfedale, a more recent brand, generaly cheaper than top name products! Does anyone have any "gen" on this company?
Are their products good and reliable? Or would you stick to the
brand leaders??

Hi

I believe that the Wharfedale you are refering to are not the Wharfedale that manufactures speakers in the true sense. To my knowledge Wharfedale sold the license to their name so that far eastern manufactuers could use it on lower cost/cheaper products. This in my mind de-valued the company. If you go to Wharfedale's website there is no reference to the current range of dvd/tv products currently available. Argos being one of their largest sellers (I won't say dealers), has its own helpline. If you goto to
http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/contact.php, the phone number for lcd/plasma TV's is the Argos Helpline. To my mind that is not the way Wharfedale (Original speaker company) would do business.
As far as quality is concerned regarding TV's etc you get what you pay for.

Wharfedale was origianlly high spec hifi equipment and speakers, great amps, sub woofers, etc. They have branched out over recent years, my first DVD player was a Whalfdale and it was very high quality, played everything, great sound, picture. I assume they have branched out into TV's now. Going by my previous experience with Whalfdale i woudn't think twice about buying there products. BUT you never know with a new product range they are not the market leaders in?

Are there no reviews in which? or online.

ag is correct - they've been around for decades (I used to have Wharfedale speakers) but it's only recently that they have been associated with TVs - perhaps they were taken over.

PS I've no idea of the quality &/or reliabilty of their products these days - I would look at the reviews in a mag. such as What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision.
