Visiting Mexico is actually rather simple. We've gone on several trips to Mexico (Cancun, Tulum, etc.)

If you are a US citizen and have a valid DL, this is all you need for a short visit. I think the time limit is two weeks. Depending on how you plan on traveling to Mexico will specify where you will 'face customs'. If you are driving over the boarder, then you will have a brief interview at the Border. If you are flying, then it will happen at the airport.

No passport it needed as long as it's considered a short trip.

For longer stays, I would suggest you contact the local american embassy in Mexico or visit the US Government website for assistance.

Hope this helps!

I believe the fee is 50. There is a mexican consulate in downtown San Diego that I went to. Don't where the one is in Texas. It is a quick process actually. If your driving you need to import your car as well. This is done in two steps, one before you go and the other when you enter mexico. You need to post a fee which is returned when the car leaves mexico.Depending on the car you drive, it can get very expensive. If you drive, the gas in Mex sucks, my car ran like crap for more than 6 months after my trip. The roads are okay but the truck drivers are psychotic.

Get a passport, and that's all you will need. No visa application
