And which jobs should I look for? I got a 99 AFQT and shouldn't have any problems getting a security clearance.

Yeah Air Force has less jobs available, so that's a minus... on the other hand it is more comfortable and stable. Navy has more job openings, and it has a LOT of travel (which I like), but you have to live in a ship. So I'm at a loss at what to pick.

Neither. Be all you can be and join the army.

Mostly it depends on what you want to do with your life after service. The Air Force offers better quality of life and better schooling options. Besides, they have better looking women. The facilities on base are exceptional, as are the people. It is MUCH harder to get promoted in the Air Force when compared to the Navy or even the Army. (Army promotions are very fast due to the numbers of people getting out or worse, killed).

The Navy offers great jobs provided you can get a security clearance which translate to good civilian opputunities. Navy bases clearly are located next to a shoreline so their locations are great. The disadvantage is that you will most likely spend quite a bit of time aboard a ship. You will get to travel though and go to some pretty interesting ports worldwide. You will visit cities most people only dream about. Promotions are easier when compared to the Air Force, but slower than the Army. I am Active Army, and if it weren't for the slow promotions and the fact that the Air Force couldn't guarantee I would get the job field I wanted, I would have gone into the blue. Since you didn't list the Army or Marines as a choice, I would go Air Force. Hope this answers your question.

It depends on what you are trying to get out of it. Navy is allot harder and it makes it very difficult to raise a family but you learn allot more and you get to see the world. The Air Force is allot easier and the jobs you do make it easier to transfer to the civilian world should you decide to get out of the service. The other thing to consider is that the either service will pay for you to go to college through tuition assistance but that is allot harder to do when you are sea all the time. The are more women and they are allot better looking in the Air Force. I served 10 years in the Navy on Submarines and it was hard but I learned allot. The best advice I can give you is the make sure you know what you want before you go in and I highly recommend that you choose a job that works with computers because you be able to make 3 times as much when you get out of the service.

just depends on what u want to do. Just make suer what ever job you go for has a Civilian equivalent in case you dont like the military.

Im was a 2E6x3 Telecommunications Tech. good job good people and great pay. Especially now that im a Civilian again. The only problem is if you want to get the training and actually do work, you gonna have to stay overseas. Most of the state side bases have gone to contracted maintence. There are a few still in the states though.

Well hit me up if you have any questions.

Navy. Look into the nuclear program. 12k signing bonus, up to 90k re-enlisment bonus. Depending on which specialty you'll earn between 61-77 college credits just in your A school (low to high # credits- machinist's mate, electrician's mate, and electronics technician) . Graduate A-school as an E4. Tough program but once you're in the fleet you get a lot of respect. If you choose to leave the service you can work with NASA or a power co., and average starting salary is over 200k a year.

Air Force
Better quality of life
Less choices as to specialty
Slower advancement

Navy
Better schooling (you need to know how to fix things out at sea)
Less of a "corporate" atmosphere

The Army, Marines, and USCG have things to recommend them too, but the Army wouldn't be my choice. I know and have known people from all branches. I was in the Navy, and that's still my favorite. I love being out on the open sea.

I picked the school/rate that took the longest and that I was most interested in - Electronic Warfare. That worked out for me. They tried to get me to sign up as a Gunner's Mate, but I couldn't really see that many well-paid civilian opportunities for that.

Longer term, think about where you want to live when you get out. Some jobs are more concentrated in specific geographic locations. For example, there are many more positions for experienced intelligence specialists in the DC area than in, oh, Vermont.

Air Force...... it's just a better quality of life overall. More stable, generally a better slice of people and when the time comes that you want a family.... Air Force. You will still see the world AND have your wife with you.

I'd say navy. The biggest factor being the travel. I think that we're robbing the world of its natural and diverse cultural beauty so to have the oppertunity to see what's out there before is gone is something I wouldn't pass up. I tried to get into the navy actually but medical altercations kept me from doing so.

GO NAVY!!!!

As far as the ship thing goes...I was in for 6 years and never saw a ship (well except for the cruise we took when we went to Maui). I had shore duty the whole time...3 years chicago and 3 years Hawaii...I was fortunate enough to graduate first in my class out of school and had first choice in orders...

I was an electronics tech and I loved it...I had a blast....

Honestly BOTH braches are great!!!
