Depends on the problem. Some options ...
Make-up sex.
Dump Him/her.
Talking it out.
Counseling.
A small electric appliance in their bath water.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Stop contact. No need to really stay friendly unless kids involved. If I stay friendly with an ex, I just land up back in bed with them. Not good for either persons mind.

Depends on what sort of problem, doesn't it?
If it's a minor thing, I'd rather suggest you try to sort it out with her first. Talking things out is positive.
If it's a major thing like stalking, call the police, your attorney, and request a restraining order.
