Here is the deal, I think it is pretty crappy that he didn't get you anything, but it also seems like you were expecting it. The problem is that you put your hope and trust in this, and it came up a failure. Just know that your man is imperfect, as we all are. We make mistakes and let people down. But you didn't make it any better by going out to eat with your ex, that is really bad. He is an ex for a reason. Guys are very protective and when you do something like that, it doesn't solve the problem. Two wrongs don't make a right, and you need to do some soul searching in my mind.

How long have you been with your current boyfriend?
And it's not about getting presents... but did he do anything special for you? Did you not notice?
Do you think maybe HE might have planned to take you to dinner, but you made plans with your ex instead? That might have made me mad.
Men don't pay attention to dates. The quicker you deal with this, the better off you will be in the long run. They also don't usually get hints... if you wanted something, he probably needed to be told. Sorry, but to men, dates are just numbers on a calendar and they don't remember.

Why did you accept going out with an ex boyfriend? It was wrong of your husband not to get you anything but I think you made a bad choice when you went out with an ex. No wonder your husband got mad!

Maybe he couldnt afford anything! And being a man (excuse me guys), if you dont remind them they forget. And I think that you going out to dinner with your ex was your way of getting back at him, and your playing games. Because if you had any feelings for your current boyfriend you wouldnt have gone out with an ex boyfriend. If all your looking for is presents, than maybe you shouldnt be in a relationship with any one person.

Well it depends, how long have you been together? Maybe he wasn't sure on the rules of birthday/christmas gifts early in a relationship or maybe he's just a jerk. I guess you'll have to weigh the pros and cons.
But Happy Birthday Anyway!

It sounds like you are the kind who dropped 100 hints along the way, maybe he got sick of being treated like a wallet.
