Buy some rollers (smaller ones for shorter hair and tighter curls, bigger ones for looser curls) and use setting lotion to help hold the curls in place. Wash the hair and spray the section with the setting lotion. Make sure you have a towel cause the spray tends to drip. For harder curls, saturate the hair. For softer curls, simply dampen the hair. Make sure this is all done evenly. This provides nutrients for the hair and keeps the curls soft and manageable without being hard or stiff. If you or she doesn't have a dryer, then just wear them overnight till the hair dries, take out the rollers in the direction they were put in, and loosen the curls with your fingers. I know that a lot of older people get their hair permed, which seems to work fine but the process is harsh, nor is it cheap and needs to be done professionally. I personally would go with the roller set myself.

A perm or you could use sponge curlers. I have long hair but my hair wont hold a curl when I use the sponge curlers on my dry hair the curls turn out very nice, they would be great for short hair too. They cost around $5 at walmart.

Permed or you could use a small curling iron and curl it were the curler is standing verticly when being curled. But depending on how short her hair is I would say curl it for about 20 seconds...

You could style your nan's hair in a 5 way plait and sleep with it in. Or what else you could do is get a dishwasher cloth that you have never used before (the blue and white ones or something like that) and cut them up into little strips, put her hair up in a few little bunches and tie one strip in with the hair bobble and sleep on it and then the next day undo the hair bobble and take out the cloth and it will be all curly.

Most older ladies use curlers so that's worth a try. Or for fine hair blow dry it straight with lots of body and mouse to give it some life.

Cut her hair, this is the best idea. She'll cut her hair very short. And it will grow up newly and after she can make her hair curl. ^_^

Try blow drying it with the smallest round brush you can find.....blow dry section by section and hit the cool setting on the blow-dryer after each section to soft of lock and set the curl in......
