I have had a lump under my armpit, about pea size for almost 2 years. One doctor I went to told me that it was a clogged oil duct? Said to use a hot washcloth for a couple of days and it should start to "melt" and thin out....then go away. I do it for a couple of days and then forget to do it anymore....he is the same doctor that told me I havent had my period in almost a year because I'm too fat. Anyhow, I have no insurance and that is the main reason I havent gone to a doctor.....does anyone have any advice on what I should do?

The first question that comes to mind is why this is concerning you today if you have lived with it for two years -- has it changed somehow? Gotten bigger or started to bleed?

If it has not, the fact that it has not grown in two years is very reassuring. If it were breast cancer or aggressive lymphoma, it would be larger by now.

Try the washcloth thing again and see if it helps -- if it gets smaller, it is also very unlikely to be cancer.

You should see another doctor -- even if you have to pay for the one visit, it is worth your peace of mind.

BTW, if you are overweight and have a lot of tissue under your arm pits, this could be a fungal infection as well.

Any lump under the armpit (axilla) is concerning. It could be something as little as a cyst or inflamed hair follicle, but suspicious lymph nodes also present in this area.
..keep trying the warm compress.. but other than that you have to see a doctor...it could be cancerous.

Get a second opinion, check and see if there are any free clinics in your area, and don't discount using Planned Parenthood - while there get the rest of your gyno checkup. They have reduced and sliding scale fees.
Having had breast cancer - and caught very early, I say protect yourself!

I'd completely ignore the comments of certain members herein. Any lump that doesn't go away needs further investigation. And soon.

Wow ignore that first guys comment Ive seen him make other rude and nasty remarks to other peoples questions. Can you go see an Oncologist? They would be able to do a biopsy and tell you for sure.

most likely it is a blocked lymph node. It is harmless. Usually you can't get rid of them unless you have surgery. Nice doctor you have.
