Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) or mutiple personality disorder is a severe condition in which two or more distinct identities, or personality states, are present in -- and alternately take control of -- an individual.
The person also experiences memory loss that is too extensive to be explained by ordinary forgetfulness. The disturbance is not due to the direct psychological effects of a substance or of a general medical condition, yet as this once-rare disorder has become more common, the diagnosis has become controversial.

When a person at any age is faced with a crisis they can't or don't want to face ... their brain can handle it it in many ways .... one of which is to create a personality that can cope with the problem.... another is to forget it(temporal amnesia)

The Almighty God is the Great Healer.
In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!
(Digestion of above can even prevent depression and suicidal thoughts.)

It's where you start talking to yourself, then answering yourself, and the part of you that asks or talks first gets your first name while the part that answers or talks back gets your middle name, and as time goes by they just get more and more distinct from each other.
