one bag 50cm x 40cm x 22cm
Can have most things in it, including i-pods, phones, cameras, hairdryers, etc, but must NOT contain any sharp objects and no liquids over 100mls each. This means you can now take on board, eg, a small tube of toothpaste or a lipstick/ lip balm. These must go into a small clear plastic bag, like a wee freezer bag for going through airport security.
Once through airport security you can purchase drinks in departure lounge to take on board.
Hope this hekps and isn't too long winded

I would check directly with your airlines as the allowance regulations. Also if you are traveling to the US or from the US I would suggest the you visit the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have a complete list of what you can and can not bring on the aircraft with you, most concerned these days with liquids.
Have a great flight!

I would suggest not taking any carry on except for bare essentials. You can be held up for a long time, especially at Heathrow, as they will check through your bag, ask you questions etc. It's just not worth it anymore.

If you're traveling from the US the allowance is one carry on bag and one personal item. Here's the TSA site http://www.tsa.gov/ And here's the US Transportation Security Administration's website with their list of permitted and prohibited items: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm
In the UK you can take only one carry on... if you have a purse or laptop it must be in that bag. Here's the British Airways site. http://baa.com/
Check those sites for details on size.... restrictions on liquids etc.
Here are our tips: http://www.mousetourstravels.com/travel-security-alert-packing-guide.html
Happy travels!
