Why is ignorance forced on muslim women?

On Thursday, in Ghazni, Afghanistan, a teacher was pulled from his home and disembowelled in front of his pleading wife and children for daring to teach muslim girls. His body was then ripped apart by tying his arms and legs to different vehicles. His mutilated remains were displayed as a warning to those who would defy the taliban. When the press showed to cover the story, the murderers stood some distance away and watched, no US forces responded.

The main thing you need to remember that not all Muslims follow these practices. There are cultural differences, and this is a case of a cultural act. I am not well studied on Afganistan, however, maybe the education of girls is considered wrong. Also, remeber that the Taliban is a fundamentalist group. Taliban means student. I can assure you, that in the Qu'ran and hadiths, Muslim women are encouraged to recieve an education. According to the Profit Mohummad (pbuh), it is wrong and against the will of Allah(swt) to keep your "daughters" from education. It is also taught by the profit that "daughters" should be treated equal to, if not better than, sons. So, don't assume that just because someone or some group "claims" to be Muslim, that they are following the teaching of the Qu'ran. Also, remember that cultures have practices that aren't necessarily part of the religion. P.S. I am a Muslim woman, and I have my Master's degree. :) And I am not alone. There are several women medical doctors in my community who just happen to be Muslim as well.

Islam does not preach such---In Islam every Muslim, whether male or female, both have a duty to seek knowledge from their crade to their graves!
An act of ignorance should not be plastered on the religion. The religion of Islam is not to be blamed for the acts of those who are ignorant.
Still, i am saddened that if even one Muslim commits an evil act, the whole religion of Islam is brought to trial!

Afghanistan is not the whole of the Muslim world(and although they say that they are islamic most of their laws has no bases in islam).you are so ignorant! did know that in countries like Kuwait,united Arab emirates,Qatar,Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries.the majority of university students are women.and most of the men are only high school educated.

Probably because muslim men think they are superior to their women. Besides keeping the women ignorant gives the men more power over them.

In fact, if muslim men could have their way, their women would disappear as soon as they got what they needed at that time, and reappear when they had another desire.
