He left November 21st 2006 and the day he left I went to see him off and he said that he had heard that he gets to come home for Christmas. The stuff i have been reading says that the army allows them to come home but the Air Force and the Navy do not. He is at Lackland AFB in Texas and is set to graduate Jan. 5, 2007

If he gets to come home for the holidays, it will probably be after graduation for a week or two, then he will go on to advance training, most likely. Our son was in the Marines and graduated from boot camp Jan 18, 1991. We drove to San Diego from Kansas to watch his graduation ceremonies and bring him home for a short leave. On the way out there, we listened to Pres. Bush announce the beginning of the first Gulf War. Rather frightening for me at the time. But by the time our son was through with his advanced training, the war was over. He was disappointed. We weren't.

No he will not be home for Christmas if he is still in Basic. The graduation ceremony is Great..you should by all means try to attend. My daughter is a Tech Sgt. in the AirForce. Good luck to you and thank your boyfriend for service!!

He is in basic - his gradution date is set. So no he won't be home for Christmas. Basic is 8 weeks of lock down on base.

And no the Army doesn't let you come home during basic training. And sometimes not after depending on how many put in for leave during the holidyas - they can't let everyone go home and close the entire base.

No, they won't let me come home. I went through Basic Training in the Air Force during Christmas, we got the day off that was it.

Christmas 1992 @ Ft. McClellan AL was cool, thru the first 2 hours...then the storm hit with high winds, a nightmare.
We spent all day digging stuff out of tangled trees and debris...and sang Christmas caroles( after my battle-buddy and I started our rappper-style Noel...lol), but they gave us the next day off except for 2 mandatory classes in the BRM.
If theres any D.I.'s from 95b delta co. that were there...hey it was me dammit...i did it! You guys taught me to be a man...Thx. (and no i will not disclose who brought the doobies either). :)

I doubt it. My brother was in basic training for the Navy at Christmas time too, and he was not able to come home.

Air Force Basic is 6 weeks long. (6.5, with inprocessing). I'd have to say no, or it'll be very short.
