I need some ideas for sodas to mix or juices and sodas or something. I don't like alchohol though.

There is a yummy drink that we make at the bar I work at, we call it a "Fizz and Juice". We use 1/3 Lime Mix (at home you can use sweetened lime juice, diluted with water just a little bit), 1/3 7-up or Soda water (depending on how sweet you like it), and 1/3 Cranberry, Pineapple, Orange, Peach, or Mango Juice, poured together over ice. It is a sweet-tart beverage that wakes up your palate and is especially good during hot weather or as an aperitif before a meal.

Hi!

My favorite is raspberry syrup, fresh lime juice and club soda.
I also like ice cold tonic water and some ice, even though my mother kept telling me that the quinine in the tonic water was not good for me.

In some fancy grocery stores is a section that carries different
kinds of fruit syrups: cherry, strawberry, raspberry, coconut, pineapple, black currant .... there are many delicious flavorsI I have even seen orgeat syrup which is flavored with almond; one day I will try it.

You can always make a soda of any one of these by first putting in tall glasses some crushed ice, the syrup you have chosen, and club soda. In addition, you may make a drink with syrup, a scoop of ice cream and then club soda. I saw a recipe for one of the latter the other day made with pineapple syrup, orange ice and soda; it might be nice to add a little scoop of vanilla ice cream. I hope you aren't on a diet!

If you like to cook, you can make a syrup of equal parts of sugar and water, brought gently to a boil and then simmered at a lower heat until you are sure all the sugar has dissolved. Turn off the heat and flavor the syrup with vanilla, or some julienned strips of orange zest or pieces of preserved ginger, to name a few options.

There are many juices you can purchase which make nice drinks. Some are in cans, some are frozen (especially tangerine juice which is quite good made from the concentrate), and don't forget to check the baby foods section of stores for delicious little drinks.

Don't forget the juices from vegetables: tomato juice, carrot juice (if you don't mind the canned juice ... I far prefer the fresh version which is really refreshing, especially if mixed with herbs and some spinach, say)., celery juice, fennel ..

Don't forget garnishes. You may use fresh herbs, fresh pieces of citrus fruits, even celery leaves which are quite pretty, and pieces of strawberry

Here are two recipes:

Brown Cow Put into a tall glass a long-handled spoon, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, 2 tbs of chocolate syrup (optional), and fill the glass with cold root beer.

A Screwdriver (without vodka)
Put into a tall glass some fresh lemon juice, some chopped fresh
chervil, a touch of Worcestershire sauce, a little bit of horseradish (careful, there!) and mix it. Then put two ice cubes, and fill the glass with ice cold V-8 juice. Delicious on a hot summer day.

When it comes to water (although that is not mixed, as you requested), I like Poland Spring with ice cubes made of the same water, and Fiji Water which is delicious and comes in a beautiful square bottle.

I hope that these are OK. Cheers!

Try making a pitcher of Kool-Aid, but only use half the water and half the sugar. You can make several flavors; then "mix" them with 7-Up or ginger ale, or even club soda. These go over big with kids, and non-imbibers, and even though I occasionally have a drink, I like them for a refreshing change. AND it's better for you than pop.

Make up Koolaid (punch flavor) and use ginger ale instead of water--almost champagne! :) I also like pre-sweetened grape Koolaid in milk--purple cow! :) Good, too, is grape juice and pineapple juice--island cooler! :) Lemon tea or raspberry tea is good, too. Any non-alcoholic drink can be boosted with garnishes so it appears to be more "alcoholic" than non-alcohol and livens things up--pineapple wedge, lime twist, cherry, lemon slice, umbrella, what-have-you
