For some reason, my Windows Explorer did not start. . . I can access programs on my Windows XP through Task Manager, and everything else seems to run fine, but I don't have a desktop or start menu to speak of. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

open taskmanager
File new task
enter : explorer.exe and hit run

You are talking about explorer and not internet explorer right! there is a big difference between the two.

run task manager (ctrl + alt + del) and then press file > new task. In the box type explorer.exe - this will start explorer.

in the task manager click on the file menu and select "New Task Run ()..." and when you get the Run Screen, Type "Explorer" and hit enter .... and you have it :)

The best advice I can give is to just simply reconfigure your computer. How u do this is to just put your computer manufacturer replacement CD into the computer and then turn off monitor, turn off CPU.

When your computer restarts it will begin the process of bringing your computers state back to that of the first day you got. It's a fresh new clean start.

Don't forget to reload your Internet software, printer software, etc.

Good Luck!!
