If you're trying to find someones unlisted phone number and you have their name and address there are several web sites that sell that sort of information. They are called data brokers. They usually purchase information from sources of public records and even though they are unlisted phone numbers sometimes people don't realize when they give out their unlisted phone number it can find it's way into a publicly available database. Even though it's publicly available it doesn't mean it's free. You still have to pay a fee to someone that has access to these special systems.
Here are a few web sites I have used.
www.iinfosearch.com
www.bestpeoplesearch.com
www.unlisted-phone.com

A reverse cell phone lookup service I have used is http://reversephone.toptips.org
Enter the number in the system and they will tell you a lot of informations about the phone number and the person who owns it.
If they have extra details you will have to pay for the report.
Free reverse phone lookup sites generally don't provide anything interesting. To get further information, money will have to be paid. The free searches do not provide much more than what can be found through the phone book.
The best thing is that you can get informations about anyone!!

No but if you are trying to get hold of that person the best thing to do is search the street on 192.com (UK only) and find the telephone number of a close neighbour and ask them to knock on their door and ask them to call you. I work in telly making documentaries and have to do that all the time.

The phone company will do that for you, but it usually costs slightly more than having a regular number. Just ask them to change your number, and not publish the new one.
