We are largely no different. There is still pornography, impurity, lies, murder, deceit. I do not think there is any more of it, it is simply looked at differently and brought out in the open more frequently.

They do not believe Noah that a flood was coming and laughed at him.
Today is the same as people are not hearing the message.
Matthew 24:37 For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38 For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; 39 and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken along and the other be abandoned; 41 two women will be grinding at the hand mill: one will be taken along and the other be abandoned. 42 Keep on the watch, therefore, because YOU do not know on what day YOUR Lord is coming.

The wicked people of today have the hope of Jesus if they stop scoffing and turn to Him for salvation.
2 Peter 3:3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4 They will say, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation."
5 For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 6 and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished.
7 But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. 8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. 11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!

The Bible does say that "every inclination of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually." I think you'd have to be pretty pessimistic to think that is the case now.
Do we really think that all the grandmothers, kindergarten teachers, hospice volunteers, firemen, and Olympic biatheletes have hearts that are continually filled with evil? Sure, maybe they are mostly evil. They could even be overwhelmingly evil. But continually evil?
And let's not forget the verses just before the Noah story, where we are told that the Nephilim were there in those days. They would have been a part of Humankind, contributing to the Wickedness. They're not around anymore, so we don't have them screwing up the averages, right?

What I find interesting about the destruction of so many during the flood is what Jesus had to say:
He did not say they died because they were wicked; they died because they failed to heed the warning; they just went about their daily affairs of life and "took no note."
"For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be." - Matthew 24:37-39.
Kind of reminds me of the reaction we get today as we go door to door trying to help people. Oh yeah! That is what Jesus was saying here!

Great flood?
Ignoring geology, it is important to note that humans have always been and will probably always be a race of violent *********. Seriously, look back at the middle ages when there were constant wars, abuses by those in power, greed, intolerance and people who attempted to spread their religion through violence. Not a whole lot has changed. In fact, some things have gotten better, like women's rights and the end of slavery.

In answer to the question. Let us stop and look at one important issue. That is time and the gathering of more evil. Remember that when Christ died on the cross. He went to hell and got the keys to death, hell and the grave. Then hell enlarged itself meaning only one thing. That there was going to be more evil than there was before. Stop for a minute and think how much evil that is happening around us compared to just 6 months ago. The closer we get to the end time and the wrath of God the closer we need to be with Christ. There is only one way to Heaven and that is through the salvation of Jesus Christ. Watch the shadows around you with no people being around you to make the shadows. These are the doorman of hell waiting to draw you in. I pray that God opens your eyes and ears so that you may see and hear his word.

Were the wicked people before the flood self-righteous zealots? If so, I guess there could be a comparison.

The comparison is the same, just a lot more advanced and a lot more reprobate. The Great Flood did it's job, but it did not keep the sin from coming back.

We're more diplomatic these days, but I'd say we're worse, which brings into question that whole theory of a righteous god. Have you listened to the lirics in the music kids are listening to these days? That alone is a great indication of were we're headed.
