There are many Acadian websites and several Acadian publications, but the Acadian children have little interest in the past, and many of these resources are dying out, just as many of the older Acadians outside of Louisiana are dying off. Louisiana Acadins are keeping some aspects of their Acadian heritage, but not all.

My mother is from New Brunswick and was involved in Acadian activities for quite a while, until her memory started going. Be sure to check out Le Pays de la Seguine, written, directed and acted by one of her best friends, about the life of an Acadian woman who had to struggle to survive. There is an annual celebration by Acadians at the playhouse/"living museum" with original buildings moved to the site over the years.

The Acadians were shipped to the Louisiana territory
The British forced the Acadians out of their homeland in Canada because they would not swear allegiance to the British crown.
The Acadians did not choose to come to Louisiana Territory; they were forced out of their homeland
Can you imagine a world without Gumbo? or Zydeco music - or New Orleans.
Fever, no food, living in swamps, no shelter, etc.
America had nothing to do with the Acadians evacuation because they were shipped to Louisiana Territory which was in in the USA at the time
Immigration is a hot topic in the US right now because our president wants to take people's attention off the war in Iraq. Immigration had nothing to do with Acadians.
- they had a heck of a time retaining their culture and language because they were harassed, decriminated against and forbidden to use their French language - sometimes the more you forbid something the more people cling to it
