Dumbell and curlbells are diffrent weight lifting tools. Dumbells are short handled with the weight usually secured on permanetly, unless it is a thick bar olympic weight bar, and curlbells are ment for do isolational curl exercises.

As for sit ups and push ups, they can add nice amounts of muscle when used as part of a bodywieght training routine. Don't leave out dips, chins, and other bodyweight exercises such as bodywiehgt squats. If anyone tells you bodyweight training is not effective tell them to do 3 sets of 20 body weight squats and ask them how their legs feel the next two days after that. As well after you get strong enough you can do handstand push ups, hang weight off you midsection for more resistance, do weighted pushups, or get someone to sit on your shoulders while you do pushups.

I've heard only of dumbbells and they are regular weights that you hold in your hands while exercising. I've only heard of curls when it comes to exercising itself. There is a work out called biceps curl, meaning simple working out your biceps while holding the weights (dumbbells) in your hands.

Sit ups and push ups can give you muscle, but in that way you're only working your back and your abs. You should use dumbbells for various muscle groups in your arms, back and even legs.

dumbell is the hand weights used

sit ups are for ABs
push ups are for upper back/ pecs/delts/biceps

you need to work all the muscles to build up without being lopsided/ unbalanced looking
