The California Franchise Tax Board makes the IRS look like pacifists. The FTB does have a taxpayers advocate, (916) 845-4300, Good luck.

The most you can hope for at this point is negotiating with them to hopefully consolidate what you owe at this point and lower your interest rates so you can get your debts paid off sooner. Speak to your lawyer to see if he has advice on the matter that way, which may include working out a deal with the CC company. Honestly, garnishing your wages is at this point the best thing that could happen to you. Don't run from it. Just deal with it. You were going to have to pay the piper eventually.

You can't!! They can take 25% of your wages for a tax lien and as much as 60% if the lien is for child or dependent support. If you change jobs they will find you with in the next couple of months when your new employer reports your earnings. Your best approach is to attempt to reach a compromise with them.

One foolproof way to prevent any garnishment is to pay back your debts on time, pay your full child support on time, and stop creating children you can't support or incurring debts you can't afford.
