You can become pregnant straight away after having a baby (once you've started having sex again obviously) so if you've had sex-unprotected or otherwise then you should wait the usual amount of time (I think some are as quick as two weeks) then do a test. or do one right away then repeat in a couple of weeks if negative or undecided.( I was pregnant less than two months after my first baby and the test was negative at first so I had to repeat it)

Well considering your not even suppose to be having sexual relations 4 to 6 weeks after giving birth since thats the time you need to heal. HcG (The Pregnancy Hormone) Takes 4 to 6 weeks to return to normal after the delivery of a baby or the loss of a pregnancy. So testing probably around the 7th to the 8th week would be safe. Your doctor would probably do a blood test on the 7th week and repeat on the 8th to see if the levels were climbing that would be the only accurate way to see if indeed you where pregnant again.

Whenever you think you may be pregnant. If you had sex before your periods returned theres no way of knowing if you ovulated or not because instead of a period you'd just be pregnant.
You can also go get blood work done, they'll probably have to do two draws a couple weeks apart if you still have pregnancy hormones in your body from the orginal pregnancy. They'll look for the hormones to go up, instead of down, if you are pregnant again.
Way to make those irish twins! G'luck!
You dont have to wait the 6 weeks to have sex. Good god, you dont need someone to stare at your crotch and tell you if its safe to have sex again. They only suggest it incase something isnt healing right or your uterus isnt going back as it ought. But generaly you'd be able to tell from the pain or discomfort, and excessive bleeding. Most women just dont WANT to have sex for that 6 weeks. Everyone heals at different rates. Dont let these people get you down for not waiting the month and a half.
lol.

Prenatal tests are one of the many ways your health care practitioner can check on your well-being and that of your growing baby. At your first prenatal visit, your practitioner will give you a thorough physical, including a pelvic exam. She'll do a Pap smear (unless you've had one recently) to check for abnormal cells, including cervical cancer. She may also do a culture to check for chlamydia and gonorrhea.

If you think there's a chance you might be pregnant, take the test ASAP. The earlier you find out, the earlier you can inform your doctor! :)

You can ask your doctor to do one at your 4-6 week postpartum checkup if you think you got pregnant again... Good luck.
