Am I the only one who hates christmastime. It depresses and stresses me. I want to hibernate until it is all over.

You don't by chance work in retail, do you? lol I used to fully enjoy the holiday season until I started working in retail. Now i can't wait until its over.

The holidays stress a lot of people , you are not alone, but its impossible to hide from it. What you have to do is come up with your own interpretation of how the season should be and stick to it. THere are some social things you do need to do, but there is no law that says you have to decorate, make cookies, send cards etc. You do not however, have the right to rain on the parade of people who do enjoy it. A good friend always goes on a cruise over the holidays and gets away from everything. Another spends the holidays working for food pantries and the sort, so when people press the holiday stuff she just says I spend my time serving meals - I give my time to the people who need help, my friends do not need extra. Pretty much shuts everyone up.

I agree with you. Christmas has been ruined by commercialism for many, many years now. It's a time of greed and overindulgence with the real message of Christmas lost in the morass of money and possessions. Just check Christmas Cards. You will be lucky to find any with nativity scenes on. Most have 'Santa' or 'Father Christmas' on them, some have Olde English snow scenes but hardly any with the baby Jesus which, after all, is what it's supposed to be about. Roll on New Year. I'm with you on this one.

I think that Christmas time is a time of year to celebrate. However I will give you this, it has became way too commercial and all that matters anymore is the gifts. Now I am no big religous person but I do however think that the holidays should be more about what it was originated as. Too many people, too much time, WAY TOO MUCH MONEY!!! I totally understand why people feel the way that you do!

Lots of folks fel like you areound the holidays. You are certainly not alone.
I happen to like the holidays...mostly b/c I have children but my mom always hated the holidays for as long as I can remember.
