Good for you for learning how to sew! I worked in a fabric store for awhile, and a man and his wife came in often to buy fabric. He was wearing a long coat and I complimented him on it. He told me he made it! Then his wife told me he made her wedding dress, too! I told him he should really be proud of his work!

I don't know why your teacher won't let you make the prom dress. But she is right about one thing---it does have to fit right in order for your girlfriend to be able to wear it. And I don't know why you can't get your girlfriend's measurements and make the dress.

When you get out of school, you can take classes. Maybe a sewing store has classes that you could take now. Call some of the stores and see what they have to offer. Or the adult education program might have classes.

Congratulations on making a quilt! You could make one of those for your girlfriend for a gift. Once you know the basics, you can make anything! I hope your teacher is teaching you how to read patterns. Just keep on sewing! It's a wonderful hobby! :o)

No, it just means that you have to make men's clothing instead of women's. Make the dress for your GF on your own time. Congrats on being awesome at sewing!

Congratulations, on your quilt, I am somewhat envious, I have always wanted to make a quilt. I do not have the patience and do not think I am crafty enough. God bless****

now it isn't sexual bias... but you want to make it for your girlfriend and you aren't a drag-queen... so it wouldn't be appropriate in your sexual orientation to make the dress for yourself... get your girl's measurements... and make the dress... your teacher is not very open minded - keep this in mind...
