I use Quaker hd 5-40 oil, it works well and is formulated for high-milage engines. It is a little heavier, and more viscous, which helps to close the gaps internally that age and use create. hope this helps...

Use the factory recommended oil weight. If you cannot find your manual, 5W-30 is the most likely recommended oil for winter, 10W-30 for summer. You're not going to hurt it by running either. As for brand, just go for whatever is cheapest as long as it is an API certified oil. Make sure you get a quality oil filter. If you run a conventional motor oil, keep your oil changes between 3000 and 4000 miles apart.

I worked for an oil distribution company for about 6 months and found that 10w-30 is a great catch all oil for early 90's and older vehicles. for the mileage I would go with a high mileage oil like valvoline max life or quakerstate high mileage or the like they help to keep the seals and rings conditioned to prevent possible future issues.

stick with what the manual calls for changing to a diff. viscosity because of the age of the motor is the dumbest myth there is. I have had two 4.0 exporlers w/ 200000 miles on 5/30 oil changed w/filter every 5000 miles
