The phrase environmentally friendly is used to refer to goods, services and/or practices considered to inflict little harm on the environment. The phrase has been in common usage for at least 20 years and is often added to product advertising or packaging to promote a sale.
It also means "being friendly to the environment". For example, you can be environmentally friendly by recycling, or by being "green", as people call it. There are also many organisations that associate themselves with the term, such as Greenpeace.
In pest control, integrated pest management is regarded as more environmentally friendly than traditional pesticide use, as its goal is to reduce pesticide use to a minimum by using a variety of less impactive means, with pesticides only as the last resort. More recently, the development of biological pest control methods are an effort to go a further step to being environmentally friendly.
In waste management, recycling and composting are viewed as more environmentally friendly than traditional bury or burn practices. Some cities are at the forefront of such environmentally friendly practices. For example, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada has adopted large-scale composting to deal with its urban waste. Its composting facility is the largest of its type in the world, representing 35 per cent of Canada's centralized composting capacity. The $100-million co-composter allows Edmonton to recycle 65 per cent of its residential waste. The co-composter itself is 38,690 square metres in size, equivalent to 8 football fields. It's designed to process 200,000 tonnes of residential solid waste per year and 22,500 dry tonnes of biosolids, turning them into 80,000 tonnes of compost annually.

Technology which doesnt interfere with the existing eco-system. If your going to get picky there is no such thing as just about everything leaves some eco footprint.
Generally it means not releasing toxic badness when it's disposed or in use. Also if it can be processed by the environment, biodegradable paper bags are more eco - friendly than plastic bags.

Use of any technology which is not posing any threat to the environment is Eco friendly technology.
For eg. Phytoremediation: a technology of using plants to remediate the contaminated sites. It is an Eco friendly technology because it leads to pollutant cleanup, afforestation and is a solar driven technology without posing any ill effect to the environment.

Eco-friendly technology is technology that doesn't produce excessive waste or emissions. Also at the end of service the product is almost completely recyclable. Eco friendly technology is used in all sectors. This will eventually reduce the amount of waste in landfills as well as toxic emissions in the air.

Eco-Friendly is a general term. Electricity produced from Solar cells etc. can be conceded. Neither any type of a fuel nor damage to habitat is incurred.
Some materials which can be used after recharging cause very little of litter in course of time, say torch cells v/s rechargable cells. (That is why some watches claim to be ECO Drive that take energy from sunlight.)
BIO-DEGRADABLE Anything which decompose in soil.Does not alter the lifestyle of organisms present.
RECYCLED means the material first used as Food storage grade Virgin plastic remodelled into materials of less importance, say cheap variety of bath room mug etc.

Any technology which is least harmful for the environment is known as eco friendly technology.
When we talk about agriculture organic composting, organic pesticides and insecticides are known as eco friendly. Chemical inputs like nitrigenous fertilisers, chemical pesticides and insecticides are known as harmful for the environment.
When we talk about fuel / energy technology like bio gas, solor energy and like are known as eco friendly.
Plastic is the most harmful thing for our environment as it doesnot break like many other bio degradable materials and so it is known to be very harmful for our environment.
So anything / any technology which helps us in putting least possible harmful effect on our environment is eco friendly.
