I am in this Business for witch I call myself a Handyman. I am starting to think the stereo type of a " Handyman" is some fat old man with a toolbelt who does not have a real job and maybe a drinking problem. Yes He,s ok at fixing up stuff But He is not what you would want your Kid to BE !!!!!
This might Be only My peciption But I have customers call me MR Fixit the Handyguy etc. I am am thinking of just call myself a Home Improvemt Contractor. What do you think???? This is driving My self worth and Depression. This is Big for Me!!!!!

Where I live, a contractor is licensed by the state to provide certain services, so you may want to check into local regulations before you change your title.

I also think Handyman sounds like he'll offer a better price. I have a couple of handymen that I call 1st unless it's a major job or sounds like a specialist's job (like a new roof).

My impression is: a Handyman is a little cheaper
a Contractor is gonna cost me a small fortune.

Good idea, in general. Handyman does suggest a certain sloppiness.
How about "home improvement professional", or similar?

u might call yourself a home improvement specialist.. a contractor usually i think means you contract this out, which gives the impression you may be more expensive. never be ashamed of your job. hope this helps
