The illuminati are people that are derived from enlightened or enlightened ones. They have been around for milleniums. Mostly recognised today as masons. And yes, they are very much still in high gear. They date back before christ. The eye is the symbol of the all seeing eye of rah. An Egyption god. That is why it is still placed above a pyramid on the US currency. They are not even trying to hide it. Masons or illiminatis are still in operation today. They actually have a base in the US inside of a mountain called Mount Weather. A full operating city undergound inside of a mountain. With residents and all. Just like a small city. Pick up a book called "Behold a Pale Horse" by William H Cooper and it will tell you all you need to know. But it is rather upsetting. Some say it is a fiction novel. But the documents and newspaper clippings can prove otherwise. Unless you don't believe in conspiracies. PEACE!

As for if they are still operating, well, that depends on who you speak to. There are those who see them as the upper echelon of the Masons and the Knights of Columbus. There are those who think they are simply "Bogey-men".
