There's nothing wrong with her wanting to sell it. I've sold a few expensive items that I no longer cared for.

It doesn't matter. I got a guitar for Christmas one year that I never learned to play, and ended up selling it about 5 years later. I made sure that the giver of the gift (my dad) was okay with it and that his feelings weren't hurt. Even for something as timeless as a guitar, I got about 1/2 of what my Dad paid for it.

With something so technological, you should ensure her motives for wanting to sell it: is she wanting to sell it so she can get a PS3, or because she didn't use it and wants clothes instead? Depending on her motives, let her sell it. If she waits 5 years like I did she'll be lucky to get $40 for it, because those things become outdated so quick.

If she is not getting use out of it then it wouldn't seem bad, there are lots of people out there that would pay close to retail for a used one as long as it came with a game, The money that comes from the sale can go to something that she can use or really wants. Toys come and go its good that shes selling it instead of leaving lay around somewhere where it can get broke or messed up and made useless.

She received a gift, which means that it is hers to do with what she chooses. It's hers.It might not feel right to you,but it really belongs to her and it's up to her to sell it or not.If she really needs the money for something else, then she was blessed with two gifts. The first one helped her to get the second one.
