It is because they have many blood vessels near the surface of the skin (sort of a heat radiator I guess) and when you ar eembarassed or excited, the resultant rush of blood around your body makes the ears show a higher level of blood (which is red) and they go warm as the warm blood cools near the skin. The same with your face blushing. I suspect that other body parts also show this but a lot depends on your skin pigmentation.

Serious answer. I have noticed mine go red if im feeling embarassed, shy or uncomfortable. It feels all warm.

some people blush, in embarrassment

they can blush on the checks, face and ears. I feel hot when i get embarrassed.
