I grew up to love Pennsylvania Dutch food (homemade ice cream, apple pies, pork w/saurkraut, curried potato salad, pretzels, hot bacon dressing, cornbread, etc.). I still cook that way a lot, but have learned to branch out. My grandmother was from Rhode Island, and I learend to love fresh seafood from her. Working on farms gave me an appreciation for fresh fruit, not store-ripened.
At my home, I like to experiment, and have cooked traditional recipes from Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Italy, China, Thailand, France, Japan, Creole country, and Korea. I did a traditional Mexican feast for Thanksgiving last year, and really enjoyed it- the colors and flavors were great, and there wasn't a taco to be found! (Cornish game hen with mango, stuffed cheese round, squash and black beans, cilantro soup, etc.) I have not yet tasted a Thai recipe I didn't like. Korean, Japanese, and Thai food are favorites because the flavors blend exquisitley and the dishes are healthy for you. Traditional Italian does a lot with roasted and marinated vegetables that is delicious.
Northwoods cooking, I agree is splendid. Fresh trout in cornmeal batter anyone? Wild blueberry tart? Fish stuffed with wild rice? Venison stewe? For me, it isn't so much the location of the food, but the heart and soul that goes into preparing it. You can alwasy tell.

Ethiopian food is my favourite . If you live in London, you can find it in Islington and some spots in North London. Go on the web and look up Ethiopian restaurants, London, UK and a few will show up.
It is so good and the coffee is beautiful with a ritual of incense and the serving of the coffee.
Try it.
And to John who stated "all these fancy foods are just a con". They're not fancy, they're from another country which happens to not be Britain. Fish and chips are probably fancy to someone from the Phillipines or Guatemala.

Belizian food in my opinion is the best. The typical sunday dinner for belizians consist of a delicious rice and beans with coconut milk, stew chicken and a side of potato salad. The beans are red beans boiled in thyme, garlic, seasoned salt, pepper, with sliced onion and bellpeppers. The coconut milk and rice is added to the beans and then cooked until the rice is done. The potatoe salad is the best. It contains mixed vegetables and the stew chicken is rubbed with ricado (annato seed) which gives the chicken a gorgeous color and season. And for desert the coconut tarts is simply to die for. I'm getting hungry just talking about it. Belizean cuisine is very similar to Jamaican cuisine if not the same. This this meal is enjoyed in our home alot. But I still enjoy american food very much. If you are in the Los Angeles area you have to go to Joan & Sisters Belizean Restaurant or Nell & Johns.

In my modest personal opinion, Mexico has the greatest delicious cuisine. You have to try the "authentic" mexican food only in mexico (unless you go to eat with a Mexican Family). Also to every state in Mexico you go the variety is inmense starting from the north with their good beef and going down south with their more traditional authentic dishes that have been around for centuries. In none of the so called Mexican restaurants that go here in the United States you will find "authentic" trust me. In Mexico you dont ask for a burrito, you ask for a taco, not for a mix of lettuce and sour cream and someother things that dont even go together. And you are getting the opinion of a true Mexican.

Have you tryed Brazilian Food? In my opinion is the best! It tastes as hot as this country is....you should try some food from Bahia.
Bahia is a feast of colors and flavors. The ancient indigenous recipes and the spicy African dishes were added to the exquisite Portuguese royal cuisine
The “dendê” that came from Africa gives its special flavor to the oil used to prepare Bahia’s typical dishes, such as moquecas, mariscadas, caruru, acarajé and abará (these are my favorites).
The countryside has different mixtures and flavors. Jerk beef, cakes and a variety of sweets prepared with fruits are some of the delicious dishes served at the bountiful countryside’s table.
Try it! If you want so, contact me!

I reckon the United States of America has the best, because of our variety.
I can't decide whether I like Mexican or Italian the best.
Of course, I love good ol' American cheeseburgers and chili dogs.
