A lot depends on how it's prepared (like any other cuisine), but in general it's very good for you. Lots of not over-cooked veggies, and just a bit of protein. Watch the soy sauce tho'. That's high in sodium. The best is when you make it yourself. Then you have control. And you can use brown rice, which is way better for you and will give the same flavors

Yes, Chinese usually do not eat much raw vegetables,so, it can avoid e.coli problem, cooked vegetables is safer. We also put Chinese herbs or gensing in soup to enhance our health. There are some chinese food which contain rich collegen and it is the sercet why Chinese women have fair skin and look younger than their real age. Maintaining a less meat diet + no junk food helps a lot too. We drink a lot of tea, green tea is very good for health

Homemade Chinese food can be very healthy, we do not add MSG, not even powder chicken stock in our food and we do not deep fry food at home. I'm from a traditional Cantonese family, we use steaming, boiling or quick stir frying .. etc cooking methods mainly aim to reduce salt, oil, sugar and red meat, we eat fish / seafood and a lot of vegetables and we prepare homemade stocks. Even though we put lean pork or Chicken in our soup, we only drink the soup and do not eat the meat.

Cantonese Cuisine is less oily and emphasis using very fresh ingredients, here is a website giving you more information about different Chinese Cuisine (there are 8 different kinds)

Eat all food in moderation, irregardless of Chinese or Western or any other food. Some chinese food are oily and salty which is unhealthy, you should ask for less oil and salt in your chinese dishes. Homecook Chinese food are more healthy as we can control the amount of salt and oil in the dishes.

Chinese food do have fried stuff which is equally unhealthy. It all depends on the way food in being cook and prepare.

If you want healthy chinese food, try steaming and boiling vege, eat lesser meat, eat more greens.

Most Chinese food is relatively healthy. But, don't be fooled by those fastfood Chinese places, where they tend to doctor their food with lots of sugar, oil, salt and MSG. If, you want to have healthy Chinese food, you should go for a traditional Chinese restaurant that serves made to order dishes and stay away from egg rolls, fried rice, sweet and sour dishes (fried with sugar on top) and any dish that is fried first. Stick to things like Moo Goo Gai Pan, stir-fry dishes, steamed rice, etc. and you should be fine.

The Chinese don't eat the same food we eat here in Chinese restaurants. For the most part, their native food is very good for you.

It' just like any other type of food. Some of it's good and some of it's not so good. Dishes like Kung Pao Chicken, sweet and sour pork fried won tons, fried rice and egg rolls are higher in fat. Try steamed vegetables with white rice. Stay away from battered and fried items.

Most chinese food is very good for you because it has lots of vegetables in it and it isn't fried.

It is if you avoid the fried things and sauces, when ordering from a restaurant tell them 'just a little oil' if you are getting stir fry, ask for sauces on the side and get steamed rice.

Are we talking REAL chinese food (that uses little oil and hardly any deepfrying), or the chinese/american crap (that is full of soy sauce/sodium, and deep fried)?

NO...its not true...in fact I find that beside the veggie stuff it is very unhealthy due to all the pacakaging and soy stuff which is rich in sodium and they can be very oily too..
