It depends on how bad you have asthma, and if you ever had an asthma attack after the age of 13. If you had childhood asthma you're good to go, but if you have asthma now more then likely you can't go. If you don't tell them you have asthma, and have an asthma attack in boot camp you will get in trouble possibly paying a fine, and/or get a dishonorable discharge. I tried out for the military but I had 2 asthma attacks after the age of 13 and I was disqualified, so I joined the Police department. I say go that route they make more money, and to me are treated with more repsect.

I have a friend and her son joined the Marines. He did not have asthma going in. The only way you got a break is if you smoked. He started smoking just so he could take a break. He developed asthma. I am not saying it was caused from the smoking, but he didn't have it before.

Anyway he made it (I think) thru his four years. But because of the asthma he collects a monthly check for disability. It is a pretty good amount too. SO, What does that tell you? It tells me that things like this shouldn't happen.

I know I didn't answer your exact question, but it reminded me of him and his asthma.

I feel your pain. I've had asthma for 14 years now and have seen several doctors. The truth is, there is no known cure for asthma at the moment. But the symptoms can be prevented. It really depends on what causes your brother's asthma. Mine is usually dust and hot weather. But I think the universal method is using the control inhaler.

I cured my Asthma the natural way?
