most people get palpitations - they are usually caused from your heart beat which has come too early and there is a compensatory pause after this; it is the pause you feel. The occasional early heart beat is normal but not everyone feels them. Some people are more aware and can feel every single one.
If you are worried about it and get palpitations regularly the doctor can refer you to have a small monitor fitted which will record your heart beat over 24 hours to see what your heart is doing while you have your symptoms.

Yes I have the same problem at first the doctor said It was panic attacks and put me on meds. Then It was really getting to me so I went back to the doctor and had and EKG and ECG done and he found nothing. I went back again and I was put on a 24hr heart monitor and that's when he noticed I had an Irregular heart beat. He told me Its normal In some people and not to worry about It but It drives me crazy. I know exactly what you're going through please go get all the proper test done and If they find nothing know that heart palpitations are normal.

You should go have it checked out. Right before I got married I starting having really bad palpitations that would move my whole body and it felt like my heart was beating out of my chest. I just thought it was a panic attack because I was used to those, but after I finally saw the Dr, since my heart rate was at 170, they diagnosed me with SVT - supraventricular tachycardia.
So get it check out, it could be something serious that you may need meds for! And the longer they last, the weaker your heart can get if it goes on for months..

Palpitations are normal and as long as they are not prolonged or produce symptoms no further attention is required. The heart typically beats more than 100 000 times daily and if it were 99% perfect you would experience 1000 aberrant heart beats (early, late, skipped, irregular, harder than typical and so on) daily. I had one patient with 25 000 aberrant heart beats a day and she did not require further testing, treatment, or follow up. If your physician tells you not to worry I would ignore the palpitations.

I have them too. I usually get more with stress and caffeine, but like you, sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to it! Many people have them and never know, but some people's systems are more sensitive than other's so you feel them.
The ones I hate the most are the ones where I get light-headed!

Please see the web pages for more details on Heart palpitations. It is better to take ECG and meet a Cardiologist.

I get them when I eat. If I knew they were harmless I could enjoy them but not knowing, I worry. C'est la vie.
