Ephedra (ephedrine) was (all over the counter and herbal products) removed from the US market due to a significant number of deaths resulting from heart rhythm disturbance (such as tachycardia) and heart attack (25% of which are 'silent' meaning without symptoms). I am very sorry to hear of your problems and even more grieved to tell you that the Food and Drug Administration has allowed an ephedrine product to return to the over the counter market in November of 2006. You may wish to consult an attorney - good luck.

Because of its indirect effect on neurotransmitter stores, long-term use of ephedrine can lead to tachyphylaxis.
