Our daycare lady is throwing a Christmas Party for all the little ones. She is buying gifts and doing everything herself. I am not very close to her. But as a nice gesture, I was wondering what would be a nice but simple gift to get her for Christmas. Or is this too much, or not expected of me? As there are about 12 different familes showing up.

* I don't really mean not close to her, but outside of talking about daycare and all of the kids, I don't really know what her and her husband do to relax. We've talked for hours, and she never really said.

Thank you to all.

I do notice what she does for my son. I was just seeing what the majority thought about getting a gift for her. As I am unsure what the other parents are doing, this is a huge party with everyone.

I have worked in a daycare, and have seen families bring in cookies, candy, cake and such for the staff. I need to ask, is this lady the only one that works there? If so I would recommend getting something for her. If there is more than just her at the facility, I would maybe pick up goody bags for each individual. They don't have to be pricey, I had one family go to a dollar store and pick each of us up a couple of items that were us. ie: mug, key chain etc. something to show you appreciate all the daycare and it's employees efforts. Merry Christmas

How about getting her a toy to add to the mix at the daycare, or get her a gift card for toysrus or babiesrus. I think a functional gift like that is always nice. Daycares and schools are constantly replacing old toys and things and often at personal expense.

As a former preschool teacher I know how many baked goods, candies and nicknack's you get, but something you can use, you really appreciate it more!

A gift is DEFINATELY in order, even if she wasn't throwing a party for the kids. But she's doing it for the kids AND their parents? You have some gold here- treat her right!
A nice bottle of wine if she drinks, WINNERS has lots of great trinket gift ideas (if you have one where you are), two movie ticket vouchers if she has a spouse, or perhaps a newly released CD.

Don't go cheap on this one - she bought GIFTS???
wow.

Good Luck!

for someone that watches your kids fulltime a nice gift is appropriate after all she is helping to raise your child. Sometimes people neglect to really to show that their daycare provider is apriciated. Think about how much time your child spends with there provider and what your provider is teaching them it is priceless
Treat her good

How can you not be close to your daycare provider? This woman has your child all day, you should get her the best gift you can. i only need daycare one day a month for about two hours and I plan to get my daycare provider a nice gift!!!

You should not do anything but if you feel compelled to do so then get something that would benefit the daycare as a whole she will most likely appreciate that.
