i love this 24 spoke wheelset. they are disc only so they must be stable, especially since they carry the XTR name. how do these compare to a regular 32 spoke wheel? does anyone know where to buy these wheels and how much they cost?

my frame is quite capable is is the only thing stock on my bike. everything else has been upgraded to Deore level or higher. o, and my 9 speed rear works fine, no spacing problems

PLEASE don't put this wheelset on your Schwinn frame. Regardless of what you may think the 7 speed spacing is NOT the same as a 9 speed rear. You are MUCH better off buying an entire bike with Deore and discs for the $1000-1200 you'll spend on those wheels and all the fixin's.

They look nice. But it depends on the application and your weight. If you want to do XC and are lightweight, they could be a very good option (I have no idea about price, though). If you're heavier or want to do more aggresive trail riding (rocks, drop off, and stuff like that), I wouild say go to something with 32 spokes. But I can be wrong, they can be tought as nails. But, shimano changed their XTR wheelset from 18 to 24 spokes, probably they thought 18 were too few.

If you want some nice wheelsets, look at Industry Nine wheelsets. Beside looking gorgeous, they have a pretty good rear hub with like ninety points of engagement vs 32 on the new XTR.

But I think that both wheelsets are above $800 bucks....
You can probably find some nice deals with handbuilt wheels using Hope hubs and DT Swiss or Mavic rims for around $500 bucks.
