The four members of U2 (Bono, Edge, Adam, and Larry) must cross a bridge in 17 minutes in order to get to their concert on time.
The conditions: 2 people can cross at a time and they walk at the slower person's rate when crossing (Bono - 1 min to cross, Edge - 2 minutes, Adam - 5 minutes, Larry - 10 minutes). They must travel with the one flashlight when crossing.
How can everyone get across within 17 minutes?

There is only one flash light and knowone is carried across.

soonerfan1372 was the first to get it right.
The other way to do it is to have E (instead of B) come back with the flashlight in the first step, which would then take 4 minutes (instead of 3): In the second step, B would bring back the flashlight and it would only take 11 minutes (instead of 12) for the same grand total of 17 minutes.

do you mean the four of them only have one flashlight? or there is two different flashlights?
two flashlights- Larry and Adam, then Edge and Bono..actually it dont really matter who crosses with who as long as they in pairs they'll make it...
One flashlight- BOno and edge cross(2 min.), bono comes back(at 3 min.), Adam and larry(13 min), Edge comes back(15 min,) then edge and bono cross again to equal 17

I would have Bono go first, with the flashlight, and together with him Larry should start.
When Bono reaches the other site, he should shine the flashlight at the ground on HIS end of the bridge, to guide Larry "to the light".
When Bono is in, Adam should start.
Larry should keep calling out to him for guidence, and by the time Adam has passed Larry, HE should follow the flashlight Bono is holding.
When Adam crossed the bridge, Edge should start, he will follow
Larry's voice, and then, when the other three are at the other side of the bridge, Bono should walk onto it with the flashlight, close enough for Edge to see it and follow the light to finish last.
Holy cow, even I am not with me anymore, so I can't expect YOU to be, LOL.
