We currently have Comcast but there are only a few HD channels available with it. Would switching to Dish Network offer us more HD channels, or are the number of HD channels that are broadcasted limited to our area, regardless of what kind of HD service we have? Thanks for your input! Would love to know the pros and cons of Dish Network vs. Comcast.

The channel line up is almost exactly the same if you have digital cable from Comcast as it is for Dish or DirecTV. The cost is almost exactly the same as well. Your best bet is to let Comcast know you are thinking of switching, and ask them what sort of special packages they are offering. They will offer something better than what you have now.
If Verizon Vios is offered in your area, sign up. They are the only company that is offering a significant amount of HD channels, and they run the fiber optic lines straight to your home, so your signal is the best quality possible.

Dish is great because of the never ending selections of shows! Although depending on where you live the picture or the whole screen just might go blank. So if your in a windy or the country Dish is not for you. Comcast HD has great pic quality!

Satellite service is far above cable, because when cable fails (and it does) its down for many hours to day. When you loose a satellite signal its only for a few minutes. Even though Birttany says it fails in the wind, that would not happen if she tightened the dish to its mounting structure. I have a dish and wind, extreme wind does not effect me. As to Soccerpr Dish provides over 100 music channels. I have had both Comcast and Dish and will stay with dish, even though I have FIOS for high speed Internet.

I think that comcast is better becuase you have so many music channels and never ending tv shows with great graphics
