this is an american standard whirlpool tub with apron and tile flange, it's going into a new bathroom. have open access at both ends of tub. owners man. says to place in a mortor bed.. apron must rest on floor or close to it. half the bottom of the tub is covered with plywood(mounting surface for pump, air bubbler, heater, ect. under this wood whatever i use will only be about 1 1/2" thick. plan on using construction adheasive on top edge of ledger board along three walls. just don't think spray foam will hold the weight of full tub plus occupants.

don't use mortar on an acrylic tub go get about 6 cans of "Great Stuff" from your local hardware emporium. It's spray foam insulation. spray all 6 cans on the floor where tub goes, it's sticky don't get it on you or the tub, keep it back 4 inches from where the edge of the tub will be and about 2 inches from where the drain assembly goes through the floor put waste and overflow assembly on tub put tub in place fill tub at least half way with water to keep tub from lifting off the floor (the foam expands 3x it's size). Now this will support the tub in a very unique way it adheres to the acrylic and it adheres to the floor making the tub a more solid structure. mortar can crack under a plastic tub and then you get a crackling sound when you step in that area.

i agree somewhat with pothead.....but, read the owners manual and the warranty, it may state that if u do not follow their instructions u void the warranty...

if u decided to use the motor bed, just mix up ur motor per instructions on bag and pour in the middle area of the tub ( owners manual will show u) and then rock the tub back and forth - side to side, and then re-level and allow to dry....
