My doc told me it could be from bacterial build up with using tampons? Ive only ever had the one partner, who has been faithful throughout our time together, as have i.
Which means, a) he has contracted it before our relationship
b) i have contracted it from another source... and i havnt been with anyone else.

Are there other ways you can contract this STI?

Chlamydia infection is caused by the organism Chlamydia trachomatis. It is the most common sexually transmitted disease in the United States. Sexually active individuals and individuals with multiple partners are at highest risk.
There are many other species of Chlamydiae that live in the cells of animals (including humans), insects, or protozoa. Two of these species cause lung infection in humans: Chlamydophila pneumoniae and Chlamydophila psittaci. Both of these species previously belonged to the genus Chlamydia.
Please see the web pages for more details on Chlamydia.

Sexual intercourse is when penetration takes place (penis into vagina). Oral sex is when using your mouth to pleasure someone. I am so sorry if it's tmi or not well put.

All I would say is this. It is an STD and if anyone has unprotected sex they are likely to catch it. Also, there is a much more serious infection ... HIV ... so please always take proper precautions. When you have sex with one person you also have sex (not literally of course) with every other person he or she has had sex with ... take care!

I suspect your bf might not be as faithful as you think, as catching it by other means is virtually impossible. Sorry...
