You think you are doing good or getting things under tighter control and then WHAM, you realize that you suck. That stupid Halloween candy laying around here. My willpower is crap. I'm really mad at that pecan pie over Thanksgiving. Is it hard for anyone else out there? I'm not going to get depressed about it but I was making some decent progress getting down closer to 7. Then this one comes along and just makes me mad at myself for the last 4 months. Arrrrggggg!

The A1C measures the 24 hour average glucose over the previous 90 days so I do not know if it is correct to blame the holidays. Only 1/3rd of diabetics have an A1C of <7 so you are not alone. As you get below 9 after meal glucose becomes a more important factor than fasting glucose so you need to monitor 2 hours after meals as well as fasting and report this to your physician. An A1C of 8.8 approximates a 90 day average glucose of just over 200. The ADA goal is an A1C of <7 the AACE goal is <6.5 and my goal is as low as possible and even 6 if there are not too many episodes of low glucose.

I don't know if I did any better or not mine was a 6.5 in August I go to the Dr. next week to see how it is and like you I over done it at Thanksgiving. I am a Type 1 and on the pump so maybe its better. We will find out on the 7th though. I haven't had to worry about Halloween though both of my kids are to old to go trick or treating and I found out the best way for me not to eat candy is not to buy it for the kids on Halloween. It helps to be so far out in the country cause parents only take their kids to houses they know and people they know that will have candy and everybody here knows I don't keep it here and that my oldest daughter is a Type 1 too her baby was just 2 weeks old at Halloween so that saved me too.

when i was first diagnoised my A1C was 15.5 (I am type 1) it droped down to 8.3 in less then 8 weeks. Now I keep it somewhere in the 6.3-6.6 range. About once a year I'll creap up to 7 ish and yes I know the feeling I get very mad. But just try a liitle bit maybe it is not just you maybe there is something else going on.

I'm a type 1 diabetic that's been on insulin since 1974. Since 2002 I've been on Lantus and have been counting my carbs. For every eight carbs I eat I give 1 unit of NovoLog (fast acting), and give one dose of long lasting Lantus at bedtime. My last A1c was 5.7. I highly reccomend you guys ask your doctor about Lantus if you're on 30/70 or NPH. Wtih Lantus there are no ups and downs. In other words, there are no "roller coaster" rides with Lantus. No highs and lows.

adult men do not see different adult men the way women do. you'll hear women say "wow she is extremely", yet you'll by no ability hear a guy say yet another guy is appealing. enable's say if you're in a health midsection, and also you note a guy it really is properly equipped... you my get eco-friendly with envy and want you would possibly want to appear as if that some day, yet it really is all. Hell, i do not see why a woman would have an interest in a guy besides? wish that solutions your question.

I understand. My last one was 9.9. I have consciously made an effort at decreasing my sugar levels. I was certain mine would be below 8. Very dissappointing. I was even cocky enough to think I felt better before seeing the results. So here back to whining and trying harder again. That's about all we can do.

I'm a type one. I used to have the same problem but since I'm on the Insulin Pump (3 yrs) my AIC's are 5.4 to 6.0. . It's a great device. You can't eat anything that you want by programing the carbs into the pump.

I TRULY FEEL YOUR PAIN. I STARTED AT 11.SOMETHING AND HAVE SINCE (OVER SEVERAL YEARS) GOT IT DOWN TO 8.SOMETHING. HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION. AND A LITTLE HELP FROM THE PHARMACY.

IF YOU ARE TYPE 2 AND ON CERTAIN MEDICATIONS, BYETTA MAY BE A GOOD CHOICE. BYETTA IS AN INJECTABLE PROTEIN THAT WORKS TO 'RETRAIN' THE LIVER AND PANCREAS TO DO WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO DO. SINCE I HAVE BEEN ON IT (ABOUT 6 MONTHS), MY A1C HAS DROPPED BY ABOUT 2%. THE SIDE EFFECTS CAN BE KILLER, BUT WELL WORTH IT.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US. WE ARE AT THE MOST HAZARDOUS SEASON OF ALL.
