Hi, We need to know more particulars regarding symptoms. Is the bump a pustule that comes to head and breaks? Does the bump hurt? Where is the bump located? The only real way to know for sure is to go to a doctor, but if any of the above apply it sounds like herpes.

I worked in a lab for a local hospital running tests like these.
You first need to not have sex again until you are for sure, so you know how to deal with this, it's not something to play with as it can make you sterile or cause serious birth defects if untreated.
Depending on gender
Fever with a mild flu like sypmtom will come just before or during a break out.
It will be a blister that oozes. (or many)
Look up on google what it looks like and see if it compares.
The doctor can run certain tests to confirm this be it blood and a culture (where they swab the site).
But the only way of KNOWING is see a doctor and get these tests and have a few more run to see if you contracted anything else.

Generally speaking it depends where this is, it could just be a pimple or a 'boil', commonly women get boils, there isn't really a cause for them but they are red, swollen and last for a week or two. They go away on their own and are not contageous. As for herpes, the only way to test for this is while the 'bump' is present and there is mucous coming from it, then a doctor can take a sample and test it. Another condition that causes bumps is genital warts. Consult a physician or nurse practitioner.

You will not know for sure if you have herpies unless you get tested. Make sure to go in when you have a breakout (or one of those lumps) and they can test it.
There are ways of managing it if you do have herpies.

I am presuming you mean in the groin area?
There are different forms of the herpes virus but any lumps appearing on or around your groin area must be checked out, moreso if these are recurring.
See your doctor or if you prefer anonimty, go to the local STD clinic.

Go to your physician & express your concerns. Have yourself tested & if you think you could possibly have herpes it might not be a bad idea to go ahead & get checked for other STD's as well.
Good Luck

definitely get tested, blood test can even show negative if you are in a dormant stage. (but the best way to see) wait until you get a bump and then get checked.....
