What I did learn from reading this far is that you can catch some nasy bacteria if the hot tub chemicals are low or gone. Such as strep, staph, so far. No information proves any STD can be caught this way.

Herpes is not one of them.

I think it would be possible but highly unlikely. My husband owns a pool service company and if the hot tub has had the proper chemicals like chlorine then this should kill most bacteria. But if the hot tub hasn't had any chemicals and hasn't circulated in a while then this leaves room for bacteria to grow. A clue on how clean the hot tub is: Does it have any algae? which can look green, yellow or black and will sit on the sides or steps.

Yes it is possaible you can catch things I know that herpes is one of them.
