It has never been shown to raise blood sugar. There is nothing in the PI (prescribing info) that has any warnings. It does say to tell your doctor if you are a diabetic, but not that you can't take it.

If you're blood sugar is unstable, you need to call your doctor.

Lotrel is a combination drug of amlodipine and benzapril
which is used to control you HTN. Benzapril is an ACE inhibitor and does not effect your blood sugar. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker and has not effect on your blood sugar.

Lotrel is a combination drug - amlodipine besylate (Norvasc) & benazepril (Lotensin) - and neither one of these is associated with increased serum glucose. If your glucose has risen recently, there may be another reason for this. Continue to monitor and document your levels with each fingerstick. If it continues to rise without an obvious cause, report this to your endocrinologist or primary care provider.
